Click on links below for details on each kudzu infestation site treated by the Kudzu Coalition, which are in or near Spartanburg, South Carolina, unless indicated otherwise. If a site is listed, but has no clickable link, then site work was completed.
Many times sites are treated using methods developed from Coalition experiments, as explained in our kudzu containment and removal protocol. A summary of what small property owners can do to remove or control kudzu is based on the full protocol.
Also see our Kudzu Kalendar, which summarizes the stages of life of kudzu in our part of South Carolina. The calendar is sometimes the basis for deciding when, and for how long, a site is worked during the year. Some sites are worked for years before treatment is complete. One way to measure the effectiveness of a kudzu treatment is to count the number of kudzu crowns that survive. The Coalition uses milli-acre sampling.
